Annexation proposed
Town of White City put forward a proposal to annex surrounding sub-divisions that belong to the RM of Edenwold.
Application submitted
The original application (as amended) was received on November 26, 2019.
Statement of dispute
The Committee requested and received a statement of dispute from the Town on January 31, 2020.
Revised application
On April 6, 2020, the Town was informed of certain deficiencies in its application and the Committee received a revised application on May 8, 2020.
Jurisdictional hearing date [postponed]
The jurisdictional hearing was scheduled to proceed on January 27, 2021. Due to public health concerns arising from the Covid pandemic, the Committee, upon obtaining consent of the parties, postponed the hearing.
Jurisdictional hearing decision
The hearing proceeded on November 18, 2021, and a decision was issued December 14, 2021. The decision determined the application could come directly to the SMB Committee.
Another 'revised' application
A further “updated” application was received by the SMB on June 15, 2022.

SMB decision: Rejected
The application (MBC 2019-0001.1) on behalf of the Town was dismissed in its entirety.
The Court of Appeal grants White City leave to appeal annexation decision
The Court of Appeal has granted the Town of White City leave to appeal the Boundary Alteration decision issued by the Saskatchewan Municipal Board Municipal Boundary Committee.
A hearing before the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal is anticipated in the fall of 2023.
