Parks & Recreation Plan

With the RM of Edenwold entering a new stage of growth, the municipality must consider how to best meet community recreation needs, not just for today's residents and visitors, but for future generations. This focus is echoed in the RM's Strategic Plan 2021-2026 through the Livable Community goal, which ultimately guided the RM to develop the Parks & Recreation Plan.

In November 2022, Council approved the Parks & Recreation Plan - a 10-year plan that provides an overall direction for the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of recreation and parks programming, services, and facilities in the RM. The intent of the Plan is to guide future decision-making, improve community well-being, and allow residents to make healthy lifestyle choices.

The Plan was informed by public engagement through a community survey and interviews, discussions with Council, and research into recreation best practices. The Plan includes four overarching goals, eight objectives, and 50 actions. The four principle goals are:

1. Become an All-Season Recreation Community
2. Develop & Promote Recreation Programming Across the RM
3. Maintain & Increase the Recreation Asset Inventory
4. Encourage a Regional Recreation Approach

Also featured in the Plan is a current list of recreation assets in Emerald Park and the surrounding region. Whether you are playing a round of golf, taking in one of several RM events, or simply enjoying the views at White Butte Trails, the RM offers beautiful parks and recreation opportunities for you and your family year-round.
